A fully automatic LED chip mounter is a high-precision automated device controlled by a computer, integrating optics, mechanics, and electricity. It consists of a frame, PCB conveying mechanism and carrying organization, driving and servo positioning system, mounting head, feeder, optical identification system, sensors, and computer control system. Through functions such as picking, displacement, positioning, and placement, it quickly and accurately mounts SMDs onto the PCB board.

Differences between LED chip mounters and traditional chip mounters
LED chip mounters mainly need to meet the accuracy requirements of 3014, 2835, 3528, 5050, 5630, and 5730 LED chip mounting. Compared with the processing accuracy of traditional chip mounters, LED chip mounters have lower requirements. However, LED chip mounters pay more attention to performance, namely the stability, speed, operability, and size requirements of the machine's operation. Therefore, LED chip mounters must have the following design ideas and rigid requirements.
1) Intelligent methods are more maturely applied to LED-specific chip mounters. Various sensors with excellent performance can fully collect data during operation for computer processing, ensuring the stability and reliability of the entire mounting process. Like other equipment, regular maintenance of the LED chip mounter is necessary according to scientific methods and technical specifications. For example, cleaning and washing the machine and circuit board surface deposits can effectively prevent poor heat dissipation inside the machine due to dust and deposits, causing overheating and burning of components. Good stability of the LED chip mounter can maximize efficiency for enterprises, reducing production costs.
2) The speed of the LED chip mounter must be fast, with a minimum mounting speed of 18,000 points/hour or more.
3) Simple, easy-to-learn, and user-friendly operation methods can greatly shorten personnel training time and effectively reduce misoperations during production, improving production efficiency and product quality.
4) The LED chip mounter must be able to mount PCBs with a minimum length of 1200 mm, because a large part of LEDs replace traditional fluorescent tube lighting, so the length will greatly exceed the size of traditional PCBs. In addition, to ensure that a single LED board has no color difference, it is required that the entire batch of LED chips to be mounted are of the same color temperature BIN (BIN generally represents the range of some parameters of LED chips; different ranges can be represented by different numbers. These parameters include voltage, color temperature, brightness, etc., so there are voltage BIN, color temperature BIN, brightness BIN, which can be represented by BIN).
Development Status of Domestic LED Chip Mounter Technology
With the huge market potential of the fourth-generation light source and the strong support of government policies, the domestic LED lighting industry has developed almost by leaps and bounds. From the early popularity of LED displays to the current transition to LED commercial lighting, indoor lighting, outdoor lighting, and beautification projects, LED products have transitioned from a single popular product to application and popularization across the entire LED field.
The development of LEDs has driven the rapid development of related equipment industries, including reflow soldering, wave soldering, printing machines, LED chip mounters, and LED packaging equipment. Currently, most domestic LED equipment are small chip mounters that can mount 1.2 m boards, mostly using a platform-type motion structure combined with a dual-swing arm motion method to achieve LED mounting.
Currently, domestic LED chip mounter technology is still in its initial stage. The developed products can only meet the early needs of some small and medium-sized enterprises. China is a major electronic manufacturing country and needs domestic LED chip mounters of different grades. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the model selection based on the actual situation, reduce the difficulty of developing domestic LED chip mounters, and quickly enter the electronic equipment industry.
